The Marketing Practice, an international B2B marketing agency, recently announced that its Seattle office has relocated to Belltown to accommodate an expanding team. In the past year, The Marketing Practice Inc. has more than doubled—and is preparing to do so again.
“We’re all thrilled with the new office,” said Matt Harper, Managing Director of The Marketing Practice Inc. “It was important for us to have an open space that supported our model of an integrated team that works together under one roof, and this fit the bill. The office itself is quite striking, with a waterfront view, exposed ceilings, and ample natural light. At the moment, we’re working on making it our own by adding a creative library and other personal touches.”
The Marketing Practice, informally known as TMP, sets itself apart by offering integrated end-to-end marketing services that deliver commercial results—i.e., growth. The agency forms long-term partnerships with a handful of clients, primarily in the technology sector.
The approach appears to be well-received. Over the past three years, TMP’s Seattle office has grown from three employees and one client to over twenty employees and seven clients, which include Microsoft, ServiceNow, and Criteo. Recently, they took home multiple awards at the 2018 International B2B Marketing Awards, including silver for Agency of the Year.
“We’ve achieved incredible growth over the past three years, and I believe this is down to our focus on delivering sustainable value and commercial impact for our clients,” said Harper. “Clients find a lot of value in our model, which delivered over a billion dollars in pipeline across the group in 2017 alone.”
The company has British roots—TMP’s flagship office is located in Oxfordshire, England and a number of employees have relocated to Seattle—but the Seattle office is growing in a distinctly American direction. The combination makes for a unique cross-cultural exchange. “I think some of our American employees are amused by our slang,” said Harper, who himself relocated to Seattle. “It’s not unusual to hear phrases such as ‘chuffed’ and ‘faffing about’ around the office.”</p
The cross-cultural exchange isn’t limited to language alone. According to Harper, one of the factors that draws recruits to TMP is the chance to collaborate with international colleagues, and the opportunity to travel to the U.K. and German offices. Another factor appears to be the company’s culture of learning. Earlier this year, an internal training program called TMP Academy was launched to help the company “recruit, train and retain premier B2B marketers,” according to the website, with the end goal of “raising the standard of B2B marketing overall.”
In keeping with its ambitions to expand, the Seattle office is currently looking to fill some of the desks in its new office with talented marketing professionals and recent graduates.
